For metal parts manufacturing, generally, we make prototype by CNC machining(CNC milling, CNC turning) in our Machine shop.
Trial run if quantity not large, CNC machining still is a better way to choose.

For plastic parts manufacturing, we can make prototpye by 3D printing or CNC machining, both are rapad prototyping can get within one week generally. Trial run if quantity not large, CNC machining will be a better choice, can control tolerance more strict than 3D printing.
Plastic parts mass production will need open plastic mould(Tooling), Injection molding is the best way increase production capacity and lower product cost, to choose precision plastic mould or not depens on your products needs.
We will suggest you to choose a reasonble mould cost refer to your mould life needed.
